The GSC Methodology does not prescribe e.g. specific digital MRV technologies or fixed monitoring checkpoints along a pipeline. Instead, it requires sufficient measurement and documentation to reconcile captured, transported, and injected CO₂:
Capture: Continuously measure the amount of CO₂ captured at the capture site using direct flow measurement (rules 7.4.1 and 4.4.7).
Pipeline entry: Document the amount of CO₂ fed into the pipeline system (rule 7.4.4(a)).
Deliverd amounts: Measured masses or other records of delivered CO2 (rule 4.4.6)
Injection: Directly measure the amount and composition of CO₂ injected at the last monitoring point on the injection system (rules 4.4.1 and 4.4.2).
Reconciliation: Ensure that the quantified CORCs do not exceed the eligible CO₂ captured during the monitoring period (rule 4.2.6).
Intermediate checkpoints e.g. along a pipeline are not explicitly required, but may be used where necessary to provide accurate, auditable data and account for any losses or discrepancies.
