What happens if a reversal occurs after CORCs have already been retired, and how is responsibility and compensation handled?

When a reversal occurs after CORCs have been retired, Puro.earth does not withdraw retired or transferred credits. Reversals, particularly in cases such as geological storage, cannot be attributed to specific credits, batches, or buyers, but instead relate to the total volume of CO₂ stored over time. Responsibility for addressing the reversal lies with the CO₂ Removal Supplier or project/operator, not the beneficiary. Compensation must be managed by the supplier in accordance with the established hierarchy outlined in the Puro General Rules (section 6.7 in version 4.0 and onward), ensuring system-level integrity rather than adjustments at the individual credit level.
